The capital Ankara has a more planned structure than other cities in Türkiye. In the early years of the Republic, the layout of the new capital city was studied for a long time. But despite not being in the plan, there is an area that has become one of the most important neighborhoods of the city over time which is Kavaklıdere. This neighborhood, once full of vineyard houses, is known for the Kavaklıdere Wine Factory, which was located here at the time, and the factory took its name from the green area known today as Kuğulu Park, where the Kavaklı Dere flowed at the time. In the 1950s, Kavaklıdere was a green area next to Kızılay, which became the new city center, but over time, as the city grew to the south, it became an area where settlements began to develop, apartment buildings began to rise and movie theaters began to open. The increasing number of embassies in the area and the fact that it is home to the Pembe Köşk (Pink Mansion), which was used as the presidential residence between 1923 and 2015, has made Kavaklıdere an important place in Ankara that brings together bureaucracy, art and academia. Tunalı still retains this characteristic. If you go to Tunalı, we recommend you visit the famous Tunalı Hilmi and Cinnah avenues and their side streets where you can find beautiful venues, art and gallery spaces, Seğmenler Park, Atakule and Botanik Park.
